Will you participate?
Your involvement will be the difference

Two women talking about LINkYou don’t have to become a ‘Member’ of LINk to have your say, local people can choose how and when they want to get involved.
Sharing your views doesn’t have to mean lots of paperwork or sitting in meetings.

Our LINk needs to hear about how you want it to work for you.

Usually people only get involved when the issue directly involves them. If you only wish to get involved then, that’s fine, approach the LINk and participate at the time, or you can become an active participant of LINk and be involved in issues affecting Wigan Borough LINk, including deciding appropriate operational rules and priorities.
Your Wigan Borough LINk will:
  • Ask local people what they think and suggest improvements directly to providers.

  • Look into specific issues, make recommendations and get a response.

  • Ask for information and get answers in a specified amount of time.

  • Be able to carry out spot checks to see if services are working well.

  • Refer issues to the Council’s Overview & Scrutiny Committee if it seems action is not being taken.

Why would YOU wish to be involved?
  • Because you want to influence the way YOUR local services are run.

  • You want YOUR voice to be heard.

  • Because you want to be involved with your community.

  • You are interested in issues that affect you, your family and your community e.g.
    • Do you have access to an NHS dentist?
    • Does your son/daughter attend a day centre?
    • Have you waited a long time to get a hospital appointment?
    • Is your relative in a care home?

Who can be part of Wigan Borough LINk?
ANYONE! Carers, service users, community leaders, patient representatives… everyone’s views matter.

Groups can also join: charities, faith groups, youth councils, BME organisations… anyone who wants to make sure the needs of their community are listened to.
